Rights of Man Square (Place des droits de l'Homme) Evry

The town square, which is dull, is enlivened by its water features when they are in operation. Dancing fountains spring from paving and a finely sculpted green marble water channel surrounds the upper tier of the square. To the south of the square is Évry Cathedral - a twentieth century brick cathedral designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta and completed in 1995. It is a Roman Catholic and the youngest cathedral in France. The cathedral has a cylindrical shape and a ring of 24 lime trees is planted round the top of the building (visible in the satellite image on the location map below).
