Gardenvisit Editorial

An Elizabethan stone house, started in 1577, with an elegant fountain court, a lake and a deer park. It was made on the site of a former monastery and some of the oaks date from that time. The old kitchen garden now contains colour-themed herbaceous borders, as well as vegetables. The borders Parham Gardens were planted in 1982 and there is a new brick and turf maze.

Opening times - April to September. Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays. Also Tuesdays and Fridays in August. Gardens open 12 noon to 5pm (House open 2pm to 5pm).

A really lovely garden in a magnificent Sussex setting. Visit in spring to see the wonderful tulip displays, but don't worry if you miss them because the borders here remain colourful throughout the season. The nursery here is also excellent.
