The Priory, on a moated island, was founded in 1229 and became incorporated into a country house. The moat and stewponds have garden planting. There is also a physic garden based on the plan which Charlemagne commissioned for St Gall.

Opening times March to October. Tuesday to Sunday. Also open Mondays in August and Bank Holidays. Open 10.30 am to 5pm (or 4:30pm in March and October, 5:30pm in August).
