Gardenvisit Editorial

The artist's colony was established in 1899 Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig. Mathildenhoehe held important exhibitions of architecture and arts and crafts in the early twentieth century. Peter Behrens lived in the Alexandraweg and the Darmstadt art nouveau style (Jugendsti) developed here. The art nouveau Wedding Tower (1908) survives and there is a landscape park with buildings and sculpture.
