Gardenvisit Editorial

A marvelous black and white moated manor house (c1504-1508). It has a cobbled courtyard. There are no records of the old garden but the National Trust asked Graham Stuart Thomas to prepare a design. The main feature is a knot garden based on a drawing from Leonard Meager's The Complete English Gardener (1670). There is also a yew tunnel, a herb garden and herbaceous borders.
Address - Congleton, Cheshire, England, CW12 4SD
Opening times - Late March to early November. Wednesday to Sunday, and Bank Holiday Mondays. Open 11.30am to 5pm. Also open weekends early March and November to mid December (11.30am to 4pm).
Admission - Adult £6.40
Website - Visit the Little Moreton Hall Garden website

Is the recreated garden at all authentic? No idea but it works well with the boat and the simply divine black and white house (black and white being totally unauthentic but who cares).

As a garden no great shakes but what a panorama.
