A sixteenth century house with an Arts and Crafts garden. It was used as a country house by William Morris from 1871-1896 and has a simple well-made 'Old English' garden, as befits the opponent of Victorian eclecticism. The planting at Kelmscott Manor has been restored, with well-chosen plants.

Opening times - April to September. Wednesdays and 1st and 3rd Saturdays. Open 11am to 5pm.

Not the most stunning garden ever , simply planted ;however the whole experience of visiting Kelmscott is simply magical , a wonderful house in the most beautiful setting.The pleasant walk through the quiet village is a great introduction to this unchanged hidden gem ! Not to be missed , only wish it had longer opening times !

The house is the real big deal but the gardens are pleasantly neat with some cottage garden plantings. Take a stroll down to the river as well, its all so quintessentially English!
