This is a wonderful park to visit. A real hidden gem that is quiet, no dogs or litter so a very tranquil place to relax in. Paradise Found in Amstelveen.

(5.0/5)We visited Thijsse Park in early June 2010. It's amazing what has been done with a piece of land that is 2 km long and 50-75 m wide. You know you're in a major city, but feel like you're in the country. The paths and planting beds are very well maintained. As an amateur but serious gardener, if given the choice to spend two hrs here or at Hortus Botanicus, I'd vote for Thijsse.
The biggest challenge was figuring out how to get to the park. It's about 2 km due west of the Kronenburg metro station and is a relatively easy walk. Go to Google maps and ask for a walking map to get from Kronenburg to Prins Bernhardlaan 8 in Amstelveen. Just south of the park exit is a nice outdoor restuarant, which is a nice spot to enjoy lunch, a beer, and the bathroom.
There is a nice trail guide on the park website, but it is in Dutch only. I copied it into Word and converted it to English using a freebie translator.

(5.0/5)A sublime park, testament to the knowledge of the designer and the skill of the gardeners who maintain it. There is another Heempark across the road (De Braak)
