The villa of Hu Xue-yan is by the shore of the West Lake in Hangzhou. It was made in 1872 by the founder of a herbal medicine business who lived 1823-1885. He was born in a poor family in Anhue province and died a very rich man.The house and garden were built at the zenith of his propserity. The garden has structures round a pond, rocks and caves.
