A famous Elizabethan mansion (1597) with a much-altered garden. There are several rectangular courts planted with flowering shrubs and herbaceous borders. The herb garden has been recently redesigned. Thomas Hobbes died here.

Opening times - Mid March to end October. Wednesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays. Open 11am to 5:30pm. Country park open all year dawn to dusk.
