A famous Elizabethan mansion (1597) with a much-altered garden. There are several rectangular courts planted with flowering shrubs and herbaceous borders. The herb garden has been recently redesigned. Thomas Hobbes died here.

Opening times Mid March to end October. Wednesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays. Open 11am to 5:30pm. Country park open all year dawn to dusk.
