King Ludwig II planned to make a hunting box in the Graswangthal valley but decided to build on the island of Herrenchiemsee instead. See Gothein's History of Garden Art. Graswangthal is one of the most picturesque valleys of the Bavarian Tyrol. Oberammergau is famous for staging the Passion Play.

That's correct. Graswangtal does not have a garden by Ludwig - it is a place where he had an idea for making a garden.

As far as I know in the beautiful "Graswangtal" (an alpine "gras slope valley") you´ll find Schloss Linderhof with its romantic garden - so what garden should there be to be visited in Oberammergau (except for the passion play)?
