The sacred island of Delos has some of the best surviving examples of 'classical' Greek housing. The typical arrangement is with a peristyle (roofed corridor) enclosing a paved court. There were often water tanks beneath the courtyard paving. Therefore if there was any planting, it must have been in pots. One problem in drawing conclusions about Greek housing from Delos is that the later dwellings were built in Roman times,
