A great Victorian house and garden, built by a wealthy engineer, Lord Armstrong. The house was designed by Norman Shaw, in 1870 , and is well named. It overlooks the Debdon Valley and is surrounded by rocks and woods. The garden is being restored by the National Trust. There are rock gardens, a rustic bridge, a Clock Tower and a walled garden with terraces, grotttoes, a canal and 40 miles of footpaths. The scenery is picturesque.

Opening times - Mid March to October. Daily except Mondays (but open bank Holiday Mondays). Also limited opening in November and December - see Cragisde House website. Open 10:30am to 7pm or dusk if earlier.
Admission - Adults £8.50 (£4.20 in November & December) - prices include voluntary gift aid donation

One of the best days out I've ever had! Beautiful house with lots of history. We also loved the gardens and breathtaking scenery. Would love to go back.

What an excellent place for a day out. Took advantage of the Heritage day so free admission but would definitely go back and pay the entrance fee. One full day couldn't do it justice as there is so much to see and do.

a great place to visit but be prepared to stay all day its so intresting . great food in the stables cafe . a great day out all in all .

lovely walks around the gardens endless places to explore. House has some very impressive rooms, and the stable block cafe does a great cream tea to finish.
