Reviews of Cothay Manor Gardens

We visited here a few weeks ago and were delighted by the magical gardens they were a delight and an enchantment, Tim Burton should have made Alice here rather than at Antony as it has an eccentric and quirkly charm which evokes the land of the imagination and dreams, I especially liked the unicorn in the cool green lights and lavender scented borders.

Gardens are planted with style and flair and abandon, wild and romantic, in late summer it looked perfect. Children will love the fairy tale quality to many of the secret rooms and corridors that make up this garden. We were pleased to go on a tour of the house, filled with amazing objects and paintings. The staff and family were all lovely and made the visit a joy. This jewell of a house and garden is highly recomended.

Rather beautiful gardens ruined by rude and objectionable owner. If you must put money in this persons pocket, then at least take a picnic to avoid the useless cafe and it staff, that fall over themselves to be unhelpful.

Visited Cothay House and Gardens on a group visit mid June - the day they were filming for Gardeners World. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their visit. Gorgeous setting. Gardens have something for everyone, with different planting in the various 'rooms' within the yew hedges, as well as larger open areas with mature shrubs. Delightful. Would recommend the House Tour if you are able - and finish off with a cream tea!

Absolutely love it. I first saw it on the Ch 4 Prog with Ruth Watson and fell in love with it & Mrs Robb. Finally got there. I worried that they may have gone too commercial but I am SO glad to see that Mrs Robb has stuck to her principles and kept it natural.

I think this is one of the most beautiful gardens in Britain! Approached by winding country lanes, you suddenly arrive at a moated, medieval manor and the gardens are astounding.
The owners are working incredibly hard to restore these gardens. I haven't visited in spring, but I understand that the tulips are absolutely magnificent.
When I visited the gardens were looking stunning - it's the planting, the manor as the backdrop, the topiary and the meadow planting that make this place so special. Well worth making a detour for!!

Excellent Arts & Crafts style garden,and beyond the Yew hedges more relaxed spacious areas for a little Arboretum [across the bridge]
Lots of interesting plants and trees.
Some areas seem to have an almost studied air of shabby chic, but its OK !
Def worth visiting..the place oozes with history !

A lovely romantic english garden with colourful herbaceous borders and a number of garden rooms each one with its own character but together they form a delightful peaceful and inspirational place.
