Buckingham Palace Garden

Gardenvisit Editorial

Buckingham House was built in 1705. It was acquired by by George III in 1761 and Lancelot Brown laid out the grounds. In the nineteenth century John Nash converted it into the Palace which survives. The lake was made in 1828 and Brown's parkland became a palace garden in the Romantic Gardenesque style.  It is a private garden for the royal family but is used for garden parties and parts of it can be seen by the public in the course of a palace tour in August and September

Buckingham Palace is on the London Gardens Walk and included in the eBook guide to the London Gardens Walk
