William Beckford

William Beckford was an extremely rich English connoisseur and patron of the arts. He made gardens at Montserrate in Portugal, Fonthill Abbey in Wiltshire, England and Lansdown Crescent in Bath, England. His ideas were influenced by Sir Uvedale Price and by his 'picturesque' travels in Europe
