Scots novellist and poet, fascinated by the history, myths and legends of his native land. This enthusiasm can be seen in Sir Walter Scott's home and garden at Abbotsford House. The Scott Memorial in Princes Street Gardens is the largest memorial ever built for a British author. Walter Scott was interested in garden design theory and wrote on the subject in the Quarterly Review March 1828 xxxvii.
