English scientist and mathematician. Isaac Newton's theory of gravity occurred to him after watching an apple fall from a tree. He oversaw the publication of Flamsteed's Observations, which were made in the oberservatory in Greenwich Park. Newton also developed a theory of colour which led to the construction of reflecting telescopes and influenced the use of colour in planting design.
