In the reign of Amenhotep II Sennufer was mayor of Thebes and overseer of the gardens of Amun. He is buried amongst the Tombs of the Nobles (TT96) and his tomb has a famous relief decorated with grape vines. The most famous painting of an Egyptian garden is known as 'Sennufer's Garden". Gothein describes it as 'THE GARDEN OF THE HIGH OFFICIAL OF AMENHOTEP (AMENOPHIS) III., THEBES'.
