A hydraulic engineer, architect garden designer, younger brother of Salomon de Caus. He was born in France but, as a protestant, spent most of his life outside France. He worked with Inigo Jones and published books on Le Jardin de Wilton (c1645) and Nouvell Invention de lever l'eau (1644).
