Daniel Marot was a French Hugenot artist, architect and designer. He had to leave France (in 1685) and thereafter worked mainly in England and Holland. Originally trained as an engraver, Daniel Marot published designs for furniture, decorative objects, interiors and garden ornament. He also became involved with garden design and worked at Rosendael, Twickel and Het Loo. At Hampton Court in England , he worked on the design of the parterres.
