Pioneer garden historian. Author of books on Gardens of the Great Mughals (1913). She was a Fellow of the Royal Horticultural Society and the Institute of Landscape Architects - and the wife of Major Patrick Villiers-Stuart (whose father had undertaken surveys of Egyptian antiquities). Her interest in Mughal gardens was stimulated by the debate about how New Delhi should be planned.
