Born - Died : 1704 - 1786

Charles Hamilton was the youngest son of the Earl of Abercorn. He studied at Oxford, went on the Grand Tour and returned to make his own landscape at Pains Hill. Like other examples of the 'Augustan Style', it drew inspiration from the landscape around Rome. Charles Hamilton also gave advice on the gardens at Stourhead, Holland Park, Bowood and Fonthill.
