This is not a full review of 'everything' about Gwynfor, just a few observations. Hope they are useful.

The couple that run it, Steve and Angie, are lovely and very friendly. You are likely to be met as you drive in and offered a cup of tea - very welcome! It's a great little place and packed with all sorts of plants.

The place itself can be very hard to find - depending on where you approach it from! If coming from the South (eg Cardigan) then follow the main coastal road to the village of Brynhoffnant and turn left just before the petrol station. Carry on down (about a mile??) until you get to a small crossroads (you should see a sign pointing towards Gwynfor Growers at this point). Turn right, carry on (maybe a mile again?) Gwynfor is on the right-hand side right on a sharp bend. Slow down, be careful of cars coming round the corners.

If coming from the North (eg Aberaeron, Aberystwyth, New Quay etc) then it's simpler to go past Pentregat village to Brynhoffnant and follow instructions as above (ie turn right immediately after petrol station).

If you DO choose to go via Pentregat into Pontgarreg itself then be warned - there are no signs! At Pentregat turn right as if going toward Llangrannog; after 2 miles you will reach Pontgarreg keep going into the strung out village until you reach the crossroads (the road opens out here) in the centre. Turn left (think it's signposted Brynhoffnant, from memory), go about a mile (?) until the 'bends in road' sign. SLOW DOWN. As the road bends to left, and the trees close in over you, Gwynfor is immediately on your left and almost behind you. You CANNOT see the entrance until you are almost passing it. It's virtually impossible to turn left it's so sharp - you will be forced to do a three-point turn on a blind, dark U-bend! BE CAREFUL!

Please don't be put off by the instructions to get there - IT'S A GREAT PLACE run by good people who know their stuff and have very good ethics and practice. Oh, and good plants!
