The building was originally the dower-house for Haddon Hall so it seems fitting that the hotel was recently acquired by Lord Edward Manners, current owner of Haddon Hall itself. The hotel's interesting and attractive gardens run along the River Derwerent, which offers some excellent fly fishing prospects. The Peacock is very well positioned for visiting Haddon Hall Garden and Chatsworth Garden and guests receive discounted entry to both. Renishaw Hall Garden is 25 miles away.
