The hotel is a former monastery (S. Maria della Consolazione) on the Aragonese Castle, which is a volcanic island connected to Ischia by a 220 metre bridge built by Alfonso of Aragon in the fifteenth century. The monastic cells have been converted into guestrooms with fantastic views across to Ischia.
