Gardenvisit Editorial

One of the great English parks. The deer park is very large. Woburn is the most fully realised of Repton's projects. A large Red Book was presented to the 6th Duke of Bedford in 1802. Repton proposed a lake, a serpentine river, an American Garden, extensive planting, a bridge, and a Thornery. Today, the Woburn Abbey garden's character is Victorian. There is a hornbeam maze, herbaceous borders, ponds, a woodland garden and a Chinese dairy overlooking a pool. The curved greenhouse is used as a camellia house.
Address Woburn, Bedfordshire, England, MK17 9WA
Opening times April to September. Open 11am to 5.30pm. Deer Park open all year except 24th to 26th December.

I had seen this place on telly and expected a lot. But as you can see from the aerial photograph, its not that interesting. It would be better if there was more of Repton's work to see. And if they have the Red Book, they could do it!
