Go to Winkler Botanical Preserve
I had to agree with the 1st review. They should have build the I-395 ramp instead.

(2.0/5)Not sure about the 1st reviewer. The 'older female' Jody is in her 20s. She runs the grade school programs and the summer/sping/winter camps for kids. She deals with all ages of kids and they universally love her. Perhaps the reviewer interrupts a school program and thus Jody is short....because she is 1 of the most patient people I have ever met!

(5.0/5)Absolutely the nicest place for a picnic or hike. they run summer camps for kids and field trips for Alexandria City Schools. Rock Climbing, Zip lines and Eagle walk...all wonderful!

(5.0/5)Every time I've met her Jody has been very friendly, polite and pleasant. Winkler is a wonderful place for adults and children. It is both beautiful and well managed.

(5.0/5)The Winkler Botanical Preserve is a beautiful place, but everytime I am there walking and see the older female ranger, Jody, she is rude and unfriendly. The men working there are always friendly and smile if they see me, but the woman is just rude, without fail.
If you go, don't plan on asking any questions whatsoever. You will be made to feel stupid and that you are a waste of time, even if it is a quick question like when was the preserve founded? I have overheard her making snide remarks to the other workers there about other visitors when she thinks no one is around. So if you go, just enjoy your walk, but don't expect a normal nature preserve atmosphere. It is not.
