Welford Park is a private estate with a long tradition of opening the grounds during the last weeks to winter for the impressive snowdrop display. The snowdrops thrive on the chalky soil.

A truly awesome display of snowdrops with a huge carpet under the trees in snowedrop wood. Under " the tallest lime trees in Berks" a wonderful spread of yellow winter aconites with more snowdrops alongside. A lovely stretch of the River Lambourne, clear and free flowing, runs through the area with displays of more snowdrops on the banks. As it opens to the public only this time of the year, the organisation is amazingly thorough with clear indications of walk ways, well trod paths & large and comfortable refreshment rooms, with one or two rather charmless young serving staff letting the others down.
From the nice little shop I bought a great little cook book with the recipes contributed by the pupils of a local school.
Not to be missed.

(4.0/5)A magnificent large display of snowdrops worth a visit!

(3.0/5)Not that I've ever been enthralled by Snowdrops very much it was an awesome site seeing a veritable carpet of them in the beech plantation at Welford.
Certainly worth a visit.and a bit of something in the cafe/restaurant to warm oneself afterwards.
