The USBG is America's oldest Botanic Garden, though the plans of 1816 took a long time to develop and the present site of the conservatory was chosen only in 1933. It is now run in connection with the US National Garden on the Capitol Grounds which has the aim of being to gardening what the Smithsonian Museum is to art. It will comprise the First Ladies Water Garden, the Rose Garden and a Regional Garden

What a gem right on the mall. Very nice for its small size. Has a Wollemi pine, only 100 in the wild, only found in Wollemi valley Australia. Nice conservatory, has a second floor which makes for nice viewing. Since it is so small and conveniently located, you can see this in an hour! No excuses, go see it if you're in town.
