Stanley Park

A fine public park, designed by Thomas Mawson in 1926. The central flower garden and pergola is a good example of Mawson's Arts and Crafts style - but suffers from vandalism. It steps down to a lakeside areas with a neo-classical bandstand. The lake is large and graceful, in the Brownian tradition. But the geometrical bowling greens have a fascist characater.
