Directions WSpencers is on the Essex-Suffolk borders just to the north of the village of Great Yeldham. It is some 60 miles north east of London. 1. From London take the M11 to exit 8a (Stansted Airport). 2. Then take the A120 to Braintree. 3. Then take the A1017 (which connects Braintree and Cambridge) to Great Yeldham. 4. On a bend in the centre of Great Yeldham is a small green with a very ancient oak stump on it (supposed to be the remains of a Domesday oak): turn off the main road here, marked to Clare and Belchamp St Paul. 5. Follow Tilbury Road round to the left, leaving the village stores on your right. 6. Past some modern houses, go up a short hill and then down a little dip. 7. Pass the main entrance to Spencers on your left: continue for quarter of a mile. 8. Turn left at Spencers Lodge and follow the signs to the car park.
