The hilltop palace and garden was made for Maharana Saijan Singh in the late nineteenth century. Its popular name 'Monsoon Palace' comes from the James Bond film Octopussy. Rainwater was harvested and stored in a 195,500 litre underground cistern. There is a central court but little water could be spared for plants. The surrounding land is now managed as a wildlife park.
