The farm once belonged to George Washington. It was given to the American Horticultural in 1973 and became its headquarters. A master plan was commissioned from Geoffrey L. Rausch of Environmental Planning & Design of Pittsburgh and will be implemented over time. There are number of special gardens on the site but they are not, yet, remarkable for their design.
