Established in 1951, this popular garden specialising in rhododendrons is dramatically situated on the lower slopes of Mt Egmont in 320 hectares of rain forest. Pukeiti is a Garden of National Significance Founding Garden.

Address - 2290 Carrington Road, New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand
Opening times - All year daily. Open 9am to 5pm (10am to 3pm April to August). Last entry 1 hour before closing time. Closed Christmas Day.

A lovely garden all year round up on the mountain slopes. Especially fabulous though in Spring when all the rhododendrons are in flower. Around the first week of November it is the lead garden of the annual Taranaki garden festival which is one of the best events in New Zealand for garden lovers. Apart from public gardens being on show at their best, hundreds of private gardens are also open to visitors with maps provided to find them.
