Gardenvisit Editorial

Founded c500 BC, Persopolis was the capital of the Achaemenian Empire. It was sacked by Alexander the Great in 330 BC, after which it declined and was abandoned. The ruined city survives on a vast platform with doorways, columns and flights of steps. Bas reliefs show trees and other plants but their location cannot be determined.
