We visited Old Nectar this past September. This is a private garden that can be visited by appointment (Mrs. van der Spuy’s postal and e-mail addresses are on the Old Nectar webpage). The garden and the gardener are both lovely and well worth visiting. If you go, I highly recommend reading Mrs. van der Spuy's book on the history and design of the garden (Old Nectar: A Garden for All Seasons) beforehand. Her sense of humor and stories about the work that went into construction of the garden are a delight to read and will add to the enjoyment of your visit. Additional photos of the garden are available at http://www.missmoss.co.za/2010/04/01/old-nectar/
