The River Garden running down to the River Teviot has been extensively replanted with herbaceous perennials and shrubs to a more informal design. Beside it, the semi-enclosed terraced rose gardens, overlooking the river have a large collection of hybrid teas, floribundas and shrub roses. The pinetum is full of unusual tree and newly restored for 2008 is the Dene garden with its series of bridges.

Got a row from the snippy battleaxe custodian of Monteviot House - for having a dog and trying to take a pic of the house ... mega rude .... will avoid the place in future

(1.0/5)Well worth a visit - stunning herbaceous borders, fine woodland gardens, interesting recent collections of acers and azaleas. Lots of new features in recent years - but looking a bit overgrown and neglected in early June this year.
