Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens was founded by retired nurseryman Ernest Schoefer and his wife, Betty and in 1992 were passed to the Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District which runs one of America's few coastal public gardens - with the benefit of dramatic coastal scenery and a mild maritime climate.

Opening times - All year. Daily except Thanksgiving and Christmas. Open 9am to 5pm (4pm November to February).

    This is a lovely garden located right on the coast in the delightful village of Mendocino. They have a very good collection of heathers and nice developed plantings close to the shop at the front, and more natural plantings extending along wooded pathways down to the coastal bluffs.
