William McCrillis made the garden and gave it to the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission in 1978. It is best known for its collection of azaleas - and best visited when they are in flower (March to June). The garden also has ornamental trees, bulbs, groundcovers and shade-loving perennials.
