A wonderful, exotic garden that can easily be combined with some of the French gardens in this part of the world, particularly those in Menton, just down the road.
Conceived by Sir Thomas Hanbury, the great philanthropist who gave Wisley to the RHS, this garden is filled with rare and unusual plants, fountains, pergolas and statues.
Not to be missed if you are in the area!!

A botanic garden for the acclimatization of plants from various parts of the world, taking advantage of the happy position of the area and particularly mild climate: the Hanbury Botanical Gardens. Thanks to the collaboration of botanists, agronomists and landscape designers mostly foreigners, was created a great set, rare in Europe both in terms of botany, with over 5800 species of ornamental plants, fruit and officinal, and its landscaping aspect, creating a happy harmony between buildings, gardens, terraces and archaeological items.

Great location, on a cape, nice floorplan of the garden with a grand central staircase and paths wandering around it. The garden is not perfectly taken care over the whole area of the land which is huge but it is very nice still and has a great variety of flowers. The house itself is something. Very pretty. It would be great to be able to visit it.
Interesting enough in the middle of it, the garden is split into two parts by the ancient Roman path.
Dont expect to pass along the house while staying on the seaside road, the road actually goes under the property in a tunnel (Tunnel de la Mortola).
The only slight disapppointment comes from the fact that the property reaches the sea but you cant go to the water front: the property is surrounded by walls.

Although my visit was in late August and the absence of adequate irrigation was evident there was still loads in flower and a joy to behold..I loved it but anticipate it being stunning earlier in the year.
