Ira Keller Fountain

A fountain garden in a Portland plaza, designed as an 'experiential equivalent' of the cataracts in the Cascades Mountains, also in Oregon. The designers provided vertical falls and the 'white noise' of falling water to seclude the garden from the city and its traffic. Angela Danadjieva created the design by carving a block of clay. In art-historical terms it is an abstract representation of a waterfall, ideologically close to a cubist painting. The fountain was named after a philanthropist, Ira Keller, who aided the project.
