The Jardin de la villa Noailles, 1926, of the design history books is now the Hyeres Parc St Bernard in tourist guide books.. The Villa Noailles garden was designed by the Armenian, Gabriel Guevrekian and  has been restored. It is triangular in plan and, one of the best examples of the influence of Art Deco ideas on garden design. The term Art Deco is an abbreviation of the name of the The Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes (International Exposition of Modern Industrial and Decorative Arts) - a World fair held in 1925 in Paris. As a style, Art Deco is related to Decorative Cubism. The 1925 Paris  Expo included a Garden of Water and Light designed by Gabriel Guevrekian and it led to his being commissioned to design the garden of for Charles de Noailles' Villa on the Cote d'Azur. The architect was Robert Mallet-Stevens. Guevrekian's garden is on a triangular plot, fortuitously suited to an Art Deco composition. It has a decorative pattern of square beds, paved triangles, slab walls and globular plants.
