Hermitage Garden

Gardenvisit Editorial

The future President, Andrew Jackson, purchased The Hermitage from Nathaniel Hays in 1804. He called it a 'Rural Retreat' and then a 'Hermitage'. He died in 1845 and the property passed to his son and then to the State of Tennessee. The garden survived and has been restored. It is an elegant southern mansion with a Mixed Style Victorian garden.
