Henstead Exotic Garden

A hardy exotic garden near the East Coast developed by Andrew Brogan over the last 7 years. It is enclosed by a Yew hedge and there is a Thai style pavilion, wooden walking, streams and waterfalls.

Head Gardener's Comment

Andrew is the owner and gardener at Henstead Exotic Garden.

We have made an acre plus garden packed full of exotic plants, 100 palms, bananas, tree ferns, 3 large ponds, streams, 30 foot tiered wooden walkway leading to a raised Thai style Pavilion, giving fantastic views over the garden. Tea served in gingerbread/tropical style summerhouse.

History

Garden started 7 years ago from scratch.

The press have called the garden "Jaw Droppingly impressive" "Fantastic" "Suffolk's Most Exotic Garden"

It has been featured in The Daily Telegraph, Homes and Gardens and filmed by Channel 5. Also to be on Gardeners World this year

Plants of note

100 large palms, 200 bamboos, some with 2/3 inch thick canes. Grove of huge bananas, Forest of Echiums, large groups of Tree ferns. All manner of exotic plants, bromeliads etc, all growing outside in a community with no protection, even in this last horrible winter!!!
