Entsuji Garden

Gardenvisit Editorial

The Emperor Gomizuno abdicated in 1629 and began to make this villa and garden as a second home (his first being Sento Gosho). It later became a Zen Buddhist monastery with the garden designed for contemplation. The rectangular stone and moss garden was designed to be seen from the verandah. There is a distant view of Mt. Hiei.
