An old castle turned into a French-style chateau by Victorian additions overlooks an Italianate seaside garden with box parterres with colourful bedding displays, pools and fountains. Fine herbaceous borders, topiary, potager and a garden of wooden pyramids supporting roses, clematis and vines. Look out for: Giant rhubarb, California lilac, Buddleias, Fuchsias and old Roses, views over the Moray Firth to the Cairngorm mountains. Daily falconry displays.

Opening times 1st April to mid-October, Monday to Saturday: open 10.30am to 5.30pm (closes 4.30 in April, May and October), Sunday: open 1pm to 4.30pm
