Du Fu's Thatched Hut by the Huanhua Stream in a scholar's garden, was the home of one of China's greatest poets, Tu Fu. The garden has many pavilions set amongst trees. There is a lotus pond, a Wicker Gate and a Hall of Poetry History. The garden is much visited by tourists and there is a reconstruction of Du Fu's Thatched Cottage.

I visited DuPuCaoTang In June 2010. It was a great memory of Chengdu, a respite from the bustle of the city. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in the history and culture of China. Unlike the building and energy of Chengdu, this retreat is in the middle of the city and completely the opposite. Two hours of walking, reflecting, and learning about the poets of China. Returning to the outside walls of DuPuCaoTang made me aware and appreciative of another side of China -- its respect for history and culture while building a new history and vibrantly modern country.
