Like a previous reviewer we found the lack of English to be disappointing. However, don't let this stop you. On a nice day this is a spectacular place and is well worth your time. Plus....it's free!

During a recent visit to France our hosts took us to Villarceaux on 12 April 2009 but we were disappointed to find that there was no written information in Engish or any other language apart from French. The high speed guide spoke only super-fast French, so we had no knowledge of the history of the site. Our appreciation was only visual but most enjoyable as the weather was good and we enjoyed the walk round the garden and lake.
For a state run site, the lack of tourist information was regretful. Perhaps guiders in English and other languages will be produced in the near future.

An intriguing landscape embracing various different styles. There are some lovely medieval agricultural buildings where the admin and rerail aspoects of the garden are housed from whence one is guided through other buildings to the views of some amazing floating parterre gardens. This leads on around a large piece of water linking this earlier 'jardin' with a fine view of a Chateau set back up a terraced slope, which one is invited to ascend to tour the Chateau. The views back are glorious. Definitely a place to visit, as much because it has only recently been restored and opened.
