Gardenvisit Editorial

The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens are unusual for having saltwater frontage. It opened in 2007 and is the largest botanic garden in New England. The rose garden was inspired by paintings of Maine landscapes. The Lerner Garden of the Five Senses opened in June 2009 and, as the name suggests, has features to stimulate each sense. Other areas include a rhododendron garden, woodland garden, kitchen garden and native fern trail.

Address - Barters Island Road, Boothbay, Maine, USA
Opening times - All year. Daily except Thanksgiving and Christmas. Open 9am to 5pm.

Absoulutely a must visit. The gardens are stunning. The Children's Graden is not only for children but adults as well.

Truly a jewel in New England's crown! Exceptional plant collections rival those found in many warmer climates with pleasing design that ties into the natural landscape. During the growing season, it's a "must-see" for anyone who visits Maine!
