Chateau d'Angers Jardin

Blanche of Castile, a formidable queen, had the castle built between 1232 and 1238. The system of round towers linked by curtain walls was inspired by the fortifications of Byzantium, which many French crusaders had seen when joining in the sack the city in 1204. The residential quarters are a palace within a castle. There must been a medieval garden here and a renaissance garden still exists.
